Lost Cubit in 925 sterling silver, platinum-plated: tensor ring, butterfly back and plate with ear post. In the centre a hand-cut Baltic amber, a honey-coloured resin from about 40 million years ago, in which you can often see tiny air bubbles or traces of plants. The warm honey of the stone on cool, silver metal is the strongest contrast in the whole collection.

Platinum holds a cool, silver tone and does not darken the way plain silver does. It is a plating, though, so with everyday wear it can rub through at the edges over time. Underneath there remains solid 925 sterling silver.

Amber is the hardened resin of coniferous trees, which lay in the earth and in the sea for tens of millions of years. It is so light that it floats in salt water, and warm to the touch, unlike stone.

⚠️ How to care for it

Amber is the softest material in the whole ROYAL TERRA collection: 2–2.5 on the Mohs scale, that is, less than a fingernail. It is easy to scratch and easy to damage chemically.

• keep away from perfume, deodorant, alcohol, acetone and nail polish remover – solvents dull the surface irreversibly
• do not put it in an ultrasonic cleaner or in hot water
• store it separately, not together with harder stones
• clean with a dry, soft cloth

🌟 What is attributed to this stone

Baltic amber is sometimes called the Stone of the Sun or the Gold of the Baltic. In the tradition of working with stones it is linked with the element of fire and the energy of the Sun, and the fact that it is a resin and not a mineral is taken as the source of its warm, living nature.
