🧡 Tensor earrings with Carnelian – gold-plated 925 sterling silver
A Lost Cubit in 925 sterling silver, covered with 18-carat gold: tensor ring, butterfly back and post plate. In the centre, a hand-cut carnelian from India, an orange chalcedony the colour of a setting sun.
Under the gold plating there is solid 925 sterling silver. The plating itself is a layer, so with daily wear it can rub through on the edges over time, and then the silver underneath shows. The silver stays.

The colour comes from dispersed iron oxides, hence the whole range from salmon orange to deep red. In ancient Egypt carnelian was linked with Isis and placed in graves with the dead, and the Romans made signet rings from it, because warm wax does not stick to it.

The sign of the ROYAL TERRA collection is the octagon, the figure eight, a figure of balance and flow. Gold-plated silver gives the same gold colour as 585 gold, at a price closer to brass.
