A Royal Cubit made of 925 sterling silver, gold-plated with 18K gold. The frame holds a composition of hand-cut minerals with ruby in zoisite, set in epoxy resin and visible from both sides.

Under the gold plating there is solid 925 sterling silver. The plating itself is a layer, so with daily wear it can rub through at the edges over time and then the silver underneath shows. The silver stays.

We cut the stones one by one. With this stone the differences between individual pieces are the largest in the whole collection: the ruby sits in the rock where it grew, not where it would be convenient.

🌍 Ruby in zoisite

• Country of origin: Tanzania
• Mineral group: zoisite with ruby (corundum) inclusions
• Hardness: 6–7 on the Mohs scale

The rock was found in 1949 in the Longido area of Tanzania and is traded under the name anyolite, from the Maasai word for green. The same mineral, zoisite, in another variety yields tanzanite. The black inclusions are hornblende.

✨ The Royal Cubit and the ROYAL TERRA collection
