A Royal Cubit in 925 sterling silver, platinum-plated. The frame holds a composition of hand-cut minerals with amethyst, bound with epoxy resin and visible from both sides.

Platinum keeps a cool, silver tone and does not tarnish the way silver alone does. It is a coating, though, so with everyday wear it can gradually rub through on the edges. Underneath, solid 925 sterling silver remains.

Zambia yields the darkest amethysts on the market, from lavender to an almost inky purple. The color comes from trace amounts of iron in the quartz crystal and from natural radiation in the deposit. The Greek name amethystos means „not drunken” and that is how the stone was worn: as protection against losing one's head.
